Welcome to our in-depth guide on Red Rocks. Admittedly, this guide has a special place in our heart because of just how much we love this venue. I mean, what’s not to love…it’s in nature, there’s not a bad seat in the house, and the acoustics are great. It’s like the universe hand-crafted the perfect venue.

For every. Type. Of. Concert.

From EDM shows like
Odesza, Hippie Sabotage, and Big Gigantic

To Rock shows like
The Beatles, Hendrix, and U2

🚗 Parking & Arrival

  • Arrive 1–3 hours before doors to get through security and snag a good GA spot.
  • Best lots: Top South (shorter walk) or North Upper (direct to East entrance and only lot with bathrooms).
  • Park facing downhill or toward exits for a faster getaway.
  • White shuttle vans circle parking areas—free rides to the top entrance.
  • EVs arriving early often score closer spots with charging access.
  • Tailgating is encouraged—bring a cooler, snacks, and hang with fans pre-show.
  • If you want to arrive in style, there are local limo services that can scoop you and bring you all the way to the top of the venue to drop you off.

🎟️ General Admission & Seating

  • GA is strictly first-come, first-serve. Dedicated fans line up around 1 p.m. for row ~15 near the soundboard.
  • Pro Tip Rows 15–31 hit the acoustic sweet spot (front can be boomy, back is more distant).
  • Pro Tip Bring a blanket or tapestry to mark your space.
  • Pro Tip Use the east entrance from the upper lot—it’s faster and drops you near prime GA.
  • Pro Tip If someone poaches your saved spot, text the number shown on venue screens—security enforces it.
  • Pro Tip Bring a cheap inflatable seat cushion.

🥾 Comfort & Altitude

  • Be ready for 380+ stairs—wear sturdy shoes, no flip-flops.
  • The altitude (6,450 ft) makes alcohol hit harder and walking tougher—hydrate often and pace yourself.
  • Attending a show often means 10,000+ steps—it’s a workout.
  • Don’t hesitate to take breaks and enjoy the views along the way.

🧥 Weather & Gear

  • Pro Tip Colorado weather swings: hot sun by day, freezing by night. Always bring layers, poncho, gloves, beanie.
  • Pro Tip hand warmers in shoes = lifesaver on cold nights.
  • Bring earplugs (venue gets loud), sunscreen for daytime shows, and a small blanket for warmth.
  • Pro Tip Keep your phone in a plastic bag—storms roll in fast.
  • Bags allowed: clear single-pocket backpacks or hydration packs ≤ 2L.

🥤 Food, Drink & Essentials

  • Allowed: factory-sealed water/juice/soda and packaged snacks.
  • AGAIN, hydrate like crazy—altitude + long climbs dehydrate fast.
  • Alcohol: buy inside, but many recommend limiting to 1–2 tallboys due to altitude.
  • Pro Tip Merch sales are hard to predict at that venue and can sometimes sell out quickly—buy before the show if you want posters or shirts.

🎉 Pre-Show & Local Fun

  • Tailgating: Popular in parking lots—BYO chairs, coolers, music.
  • Exploring: Arrive early enough to hike trails and check scenic overlooks.
  • Nearby Morrison: Grab food/drinks at Morrison Inn before heading in.

🚶 Leaving the Venue

  • Exit strategy: Park smart (downhill/edge of lots) or leave a song early to avoid gridlock.
  • Shuttle buses and rideshares can be chaotic—plan patience into your night.

🤝 Etiquette & Vibe

  • Don’t crowd others—GA works on respect and early arrival.
  • Avoid laying down huge blankets and being too territorial.
  • Bring good energy—dancing, kindness, and friendliness are core to the Red Rocks experience.
  • Pro Tip Bathrooms: the women’s restroom bottom-left of stage often has shorter lines.
